Dear Philip & Sandra,
Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. From the bald eagle
who greeted us atop a tree next to the house when we arrived, to the
phosphorescence in the water the night before we left...we had a
wonderful time. We've enjoyed shrimp from Squirrel Cove, spring
salmon from the ocean, and clams from the beach. This is the life!
Thank you for your hospitality. It was so nice to meet your lovely
family.
~ Sincerely Dave, Michele, Sophia, Jack & Baloo

The morning sun is dead ahead and eye level as I write this. Just
trying to soak in the last few moments of this wonderful setting
before we go back to that other world. We've had a wonderful
time...enjoyed your house very much -- it is perfect for the
location. Book us now -- same time, next year.
~ Katie, Gerry & Gabriel

Dear Sandra and Philip,
Thank you so much for a perfect week in your beautiful house. We
especially enjoyed the fantastic ocean and mountain views, the
relaxing atmosphere, the opportunity to watch dolphins play in their
natural habitat, the peace, and the fishing trips. Catching a big
salmon in the first hour of fishing here, was for Christopher,
definitely the most memorable part of this vacation...may many more
guests appreciate this little paradise!

Dear Sandra & Philip,
You have a truly beautiful home! We felt at peace the moment we
walked in. It is a comfortable, aesthetically wonderful environment.
We enjoyed the lake, an unexpected treasure! The views of course are
so memorable, and the ever-changing weather. Thank you for sharing
your wonderful home.

Hello Sandra,
I want to let you know, you continue to exceed my expectations. I
got the deposit refund last week, more quickly than you said to
expect it. Thanks. But I must say what really exceeded all of our
expectations was your property on Cortes. The house is in great
shape, the property beautiful, the views stunning, the garden
unexpected & delightful, and Cortes itself was great.
Thanks again. We all agree that we want to return.
~ Thanks Very Much, Carl from Atlanta Georgia USA

Dear Sandra & Philip,
You have a truly wonderful home. We enjoyed every laid back day we
spent on Cortes, and we'd love to come back. The badminton court was
great to play with and it's amazing seeing all these seashells!
We've never seen so many, especially at Manson's Lagoon. Hague Lake
is beautiful and warm! Many, many more thanks.

We saw eagles, deer, ducks, starfish, clams, crabs, and garden
snakes. The night skies viewed from the sofa were full of falling
stars, satellites, and bright brilliant planets. No light pollution
here! Cameron asks: "How much are sand dollars worth?" and "What
bank takes 'em"? I lost track of the: "You gotta come see this
mummy". Cameron (sleeping in the loft) experienced his first
sunrise. Gywnm heard a whale -- more than once -- is this possible?
Cameron went "natural" horse back riding at Francis Guthrie's
stable, Liam went for his first canoe ride & roasted marshmallows on
the beach. The weather was unseasonably hot and sunny for Easter.
Many thanks for a wonderful vacation.

Wow !! What a week! Hiking at Kw'as and Hathayim Parks -- canoeing
at Manson's Lagoon -- beaching at Smelt Bay -- sleeping in --
meditating on the sundeck with a hummingbird for company --seeing
deer, seals, otters, herons, woodpeckers, dolphins, eagles, ravens
-- reading the morning away, while the boys played on the beach --
full moon through the bedroom window at 3 AM -- weather coming
across Lewis Channel -- snorkelling at Manson's Lagoon. You know? I
think we may be back.

You have a beautiful & peaceful retreat here, "unplugged" from the
rest of the world. We only made one trip to the library to use the
internet. Martin's & Shannon's favorite part of our stay was
catching that 26-lb Chinook Salmon on our fishing trip with Ed
Jordon as our guide. Greg's favorite part was grilling that salmon
and eating it every night out on the deck (sometimes even for lunch
and breakfast) and sipping coffee on the deck with me while the
teenagers slept in. My favorite and unexpected delights were the
fresh oyster po-boys provided by Martin & Shannon's afternoon jaunts
on the beach. A New Orleans girl's heaven! Overall, we just enjoyed
the slow passage of time. Time to read a book from cover to cover,
time to play Password & Trivial Pursuit & Texas Hold'Em & Badminton,
time to feed the crabs and throw rocks into the sea, time to really
talk to each other, and time to just be quiet!
Thanks for the experience.

Philip & Sandra,
We had a lovely first week of 3 weeks island hopping. We loved your
house -- it was very cozy & we played many games & read lots out on
the deck glancing up occasionally to take in the view....Highlights
were tidepools & lagoon swimming at Manson's Landing, playing at
Hague Lake -- amazingly warm! Also had a delicious last night meal
at the Floathouse on Gorge Harbour. Thanks for sharing your house --
the kids loved the "playground" and lighted paths.

Just now we watched a beautiful pileated woodpecker ravenously
eating an apple on a tree at the cottage. What a treat it is to
observe one of these rare birds! We've had a great vacation here at
the house and its surroundings. Since we're not very aquatic, we
explored the land part of the island, enjoyed the people at the
Friday market -- great veggies. Had wonderful hikes. To Von Donop
Inlet today with a small collection of chanterelles as a great
reward. Clams the other day were a treat! The air is still pure here
& your setting is totally perfect. Soon it is back to Seattle, the
traffic, and the people. I loved getting up with the sun shining on
us, watching for birds, checking on "my" scenery. Each day was
special. You have a little paradise for people like us, who need it
so badly.
~ Thank You from Luise & Michael

Three generations of our family have thoroughly enjoyed our week
here on Cortes. We have enjoyed watching the marine traffic -- even
a house being towed on a barge. We've seen many birds & bats,
including a pair of pileated woodpeckers and the cry of the loon.
The fresh veggies and apples from your garden were delicious; the
fresh bread, cookies & pie from the Friday Market tasted especially
good at our picnic on the deck. Walks in the woods & on the beaches
were restorative & educational. The misty mornings of late September
were surreal and the path of the moon on the ocean was magical.
Every day took us to a new place and the playground at Manson's
Landing was a favourite place for all of us to be children. Many
thanks for a special week.
